ACPHS Student Ambassador Blog

Hello everyone!

This past Wednesday, one of my classmates and I gave a presentation at the Bethlehem Area YMCA through our student chapter of Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists.  We presented to an audience of elderly adults about the importance of bone health, exercises to keep your bones strong, sources of calcium and Vitamin D, and ways to prevent falls.  It was a very interactive presentation and we had a lot of fun!

This week I will be attending a career panel to learn about different areas of pharmacy that are available after graduation.  There will be a clinical pharmacist, pharmacy managers from a hospital and independent pharmacy, a pharmacy resident from a local hospital, and a few others.  It is going to be a great evening to learn about pharmacy and network with local pharmacists.

Hi everyone!
Relay for Life took place last night from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m.!  It was an amazing experience and lots of money was raised toward the fight against cancer!  There were several raffles, games, bakes sales, and other events.  Also, over 25 people volunteered to shave their heads to raise awareness.  The picture above shows a room full of luminarias that people decorated in remembrance of someone who has battled cancer.  For one of the laps, all the luminarias were lined up around the track and everyone carried a small candle.  I had lots of fun at Relay for Life and I hope you all did too!

Hey everyone!
Today some of the RA’s hosted a “Pie Your RA” event here on campus! All proceeds went to Relay for Life and they raised over $100! I also participated in the event and am still trying to scrub off some whipped cream from my hair! Anything for a great cause!

This past weekend we had a great time at the Mr. ACPHS competition!  There were 9 great contestants that competed in swimwear, talent, formal wear and question and answer portions.  There was a DJ and wonderful MCs.  John, was crowned Mr. ACPHS 2014.  The runner ups were Steve and Anthony!  This event helped raise over $1,000 for Relay for Life.  Congratulations to CAC, all the participants, and John!  I can’t wait for this event next year!

There were wings, pizza, nachos, dips, ice cream, and much more! I even made trivia game about past Super Bowls where one of the residents won a Walmart gift card! It was a lot of fun and I am glad everyone had a great time!

Hi everyone!

Can you believe it is already the last day of January?  There are lots of activities planned on campus to keep you busy this weekend!  Last night, students had a good time with bowling and laser tag.  Tonight, the pre-release screening of Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be shown in the Student Center.  Tomorrow night, there will be the Relay for Life Charity Casino Night in the gym.  Come play and have the chance to win awesome prizes including giftcards, a sushi making kit, an iPad keyboard, and many more.  All proceeds from the event go towards Relay for Life, which is only a month away - February, 28th.  Don’t miss out on any of the fun!
