Where were the student ambassadors spotted this weekend? At the ice rink! SGA hosted a free ice skating session at a local ice rink in Albany. Despite the cold, over 70 students came and a lot of them were student ambassadors. It was a lot of fun and definitely an activity worth repeating.
I hope you all enjoyed your break and that your Spring semester is off to a good start! Upon returning to campus from break, there were some changes in the dining hall. There is now a station called Chef Jet Modern Asian Kitchen which features the menus of nationally recognized chef Jet Tila. A variety of Asian foods will be served here for lunch and dinner each day and this week the menu is featuring Thai food. The food is great and Chef Jet’s is already becoming quite popular after one week. Make sure you try it out if you have not done so already!
I hope you all had a nice break! My break was short but I learned a lot. I came back early to start my research work in infectious disease. Basically, I worked with many worms and injected different bacterial strains with antibiotics to see which worms survived with the antibiotic. Worms have a very similar innate immune system to humans, so it was very interesting to see which bacterial infections were cured by certain antibiotics! My teacher was very helpful and has taught me so much in just a few weeks! I can’t wait to see what I get to do next!
Welcome back to campus for the next semester. I am excited to be back and see my friends and get ready for classes. This past weekend the residence life staff had winter training. We had a great time reviewing the policies and bonding with the staff. We did ice breakers, meditation, made a video, and even when snow tubing! It was a lot of fun! I am looking forward to what the semester will bring.
Please tell me how you would rate the honesty and ethical standards of people in these different fields — very high, high, average, low, or very low? First, … Next, …[RANDOM ORDER]
I hope you all had a good holiday and winter break! In early December, Gallup published a poll and pharmacists are one of the most trusted professions. Check out the results! Enjoy the last week of break and have safe travels back to school for second semester!
It is hard to believe that today is already the last day of classes for the semester! It is predicted to be a very cold weekend, so it is a perfect time to grab some hot chocolate or coffee from Tim Horton’s on campus, and settle in to study for finals. Good luck on finals next week!
The semester is almost over, but there was some excitement this weekend at the men’s basketball game! The game was awesome. It went into double overtime and the Panthers were down by 2 points. One of our fourth year players made a three point shot on the buzzer to take the win for ACPHS! Check out this great video of his winning shot! Make sure to check out the Panthers and the Lady Panthers in their future games!
The semester is coming to a close very quickly! There is a lot going on in these last few weeks and on top of all the studying and activities, there is a lot of stress! However, we have no reason to be nervous or stressed out because SGA is offering a Stress Relief Week to help everyone relax a little before the end of the semester. There will be a chocolate fountain, meditation, bingo, and therapy dogs! It will be an awesome week and a great way to de-stress!
I just got back from a program at the Holland/ Princeton residence hall and it was great! Each RA was assigned a country and every floor had food and activities related to that country! There was Italy, France, Poland, Greece, and Pakistan! All the diverse food was amazing and I had a great time! My favorite was the France hall and all of the crepes!
I hope you all had a nice and relaxing Thanksgiving break, with plenty of food! We’re at the home stretch of the semester now - only two more weeks of class and then finals, and then it will already be Winter Break. To get in the Holiday spirit, there was an event yesterday where students were welcome to decorate the Student Center Atrium for the holidays, decorate cookies and ornaments, and take pictures with friends to put in snow globes! All the students who attended had a great time and the Student Center is certainly very festive!
This past weekend about 500 students attended the 6th Annual Charity Snow Ball! It was a lot of fun. There was food, music, dancing, and even a flash mob! Our donations and money went to support Parson’s Child and Family Center in Albany and the YWCA in Troy. It was a fun night and I am looking forward to next year’s Snow Ball!
Today the Albany Medical Students and Pharmacy students joined together for an inter- professional learning day where professors from both schools taught different lessons! It was extremely interesting and admiring how much we professionals can do when we reach the future!
The semester is flying by and Thanksgiving is less than a week away! To celebrate the holiday on campus, Chartwell’s provided a Thanksgiving dinner last night. There was turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, apple pie, you name it! The food was delicious and it was a great way to get everyone in the mood for Thanksgiving!
